I have been involved in finance and management most of my working life - but when the family agreed it was time to move Mum and Dad into an Aged Care Facility - from their own home - we had no idea how it worked, what the costs were and how to get them into the Residential Aged Care system.
They are now happily tucked in at a Residential Aged Care home in Cleveland.
Then my business Aged Care Facts was born.
I have since studied how it all works, I have researched the costs and fees,
I know where to find the resources and Government web site information.
I understand how the Means Tests work and have even went back to University to obtain a Graduate Diploma covering Retirement and Aged Care.
It is now my life mission to use this knowledge to make it easy for you to quickly understand your options and costs and to understand the effects of Means Testing. You will learn what a Daily Care Fee is and what a Refundable Accommodation Deposit is. You will see what the likely costs will be and what you can afford.
I offer a low cost and recommended opportunity for you to see what aged care opportunities there are and what it all costs. I can help you with your Centrelink forms and help you find Providers of Home Care or Residential Care.
Of course, I will be available to help guide you through the next steps.
I will visit you and your family at your home or we can arrange to meet at a convenient location.

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
A Commonwealth Government subsidised service that assists you with home chores. This is arranged through approved providers and is the first step in enabling you to continue to enjoy living in your own home.
Home Care Package (HCP)

If you start to need more support in living comfortably at home, the Commonwealth Government offers 4 levels of home help depending on your level of incapacity or health.
To be eligible you will need to be 65 +years old and assessed by ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) for your eligibility and level of support.
This package has an Income Means Test that may require additional contributions from you.
Residential Aged Care
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
Residential Aged Care
A little more complicated.
Government subsidised care for people over 65 years of age. Eligibility needs to be assessed by ACAT or your doctor. Generally assessed as unable to remain at home.
Respite care available.
You can buy a room via a Refundable Accomodation Deposit or pay a Daily Accomodation Payment (or combination of both) as well as a Daily Care Fee plus additional Services Fees as required.
There are Asset and Income Tests and a Means Tested Daily Care Fee (MTCF).
Low income /low asset clients may be eligible for full accomodation subsidy.

ACAT and Home Aged Care $880 (Incl GST).
This involves our initial meeting including discussion about Home Care packages, options and expected costs.
We will assist you through the ACAT assessment process, get the relevant Centrelink forms completed and lodged and help you find a provider for your Home Care package once approved.

Full service (recommended) – We guide you through the whole Aged Care process.
$1,540 (Incl GST).
We will initially meet at your premises (or as nominated) - approximately 1.5 -2.5 hours
I will bring biscuits if you provide the coffee.
Service provided :
- Discuss your position with you (and family if available)
- Discuss the options, costs and how it all works
- Prepare cash flows and likely means tested fees.
- Help you with your Centrelink forms
- Help you find the Service providers including Nursing Homes
- Negotiate costs and fees with providers
- Address any issues you may have – moving, selling home etc
- Provide a summary report for your review and discussion.
Importantly- we de-stress the whole process and remain available for ongoing support until you are settled. This service lasts as long as you do.

Finally in Residential Aged Care
After a trial period of respite in Residential care - they decided to stay.
Sold their house, acquired two adjacent units (one each) via part Refundable Accommodation Deposit and part Daily Accomodation Payment.
They were previously living at home with the support of a Home Care Package.
